Coming Soon: Ride the River!

Here is one for your calendar! May 3rd is the 4th annual River Ride! In honor of Earth Day and to share knowledge about the state of the Lafayette and Elizabeth River Watersheds, the Friends of Norfolks Environment are partnering with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, the Elizabeth River Project, Wild River OUtfitters, Kayak Nature Tours, and the Norfolk Parks and Rec Department to bring 100 paddles to the waters. I have participated 2 of the 3 previous tours and it is a ball! Lots of good information, plus time spent on the water is great! Here are some images from the 2008 River ride.

Stimulate your self

Here are a few notes about the new stimulus package that may help you get stimulated. Whether or not you agree with the spending included in the package, energy efficiency improvements are a good thing. On the smallest scale, they help homeowners save money every day!  Hopefully this will get you stimulated to make energy efficiency improvements in your office or home!

  • $6.3 billion for energy efficiency in multifamily housing getting federal assistance, such as HUD-sponsored low-income housing
  • $5 billion to weatherize more than 1 million homes owned by "modest-income" families.
  • $4.5 billion to increase the energy efficiency of federal buildings
  • $2 billion to increase the tax credit for hybrid cars to $7,500
  • $1.4 billion for bonds to carry out state and local renewable energy and conservation projects
  • $500 million to train workers for careers in energy efficiency and renewable energy
  • $300 million for consumer rebates for energy-efficient appliances
  • $268 million to remove caps on a 30 percent residential credit for solar, wind, and geothermal

Looking for an energy efficient home?  Consult an EcoBroker!  I am one!  Search for homes in Hampton Roads cities of Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Suffolk, Portsmouth and beyond, on my website!

More Preview Pictures

About 2 weeks ago I gave you a preview of a new listing that is coming in April... Well here it is, April 6th and the sellers are working to get the house ready for new owners. Exterior trim has been painted, closets cleaned out, furniture rearranged, painting, painting, painting!  Though the goal was to list at the beginning of the month, it looks like the middle will be as close as they can get it. With another weekend of progress, this home should be ready to show by next week!  Here are a few more sneak peak photos for this 5 bedroom 2 bath home!
