It is really heating up in Hampton Roads real estate! I have had a wonderful week! I met a couple of new families who decided to buy homes in our area and we have ratified contracts on 2 properties in Virginia Beach!
The important message I wanted to share with everyone is really about energy savings. As I said above, it is really heating up! As temperatures rise, we are more likely to keep that air conditioning running. This of course leads to higher energy bills. To save some money here are some easy things you can do...
- Raise the setting on your AC - 78 degrees should be just right!
- Close off the vents in areas of the house you don't use (spare bedrooms, etc).
- Keep curtains closed, especially on the sunny side of your home.
- Use a programmable thermostat to monitor the temperature - no need to keep your home at 74 degrees during the day if you are at work from 9 to 5!
- Keep lights off when possible and switch to CFL!
- Lower the water temperature on your hot water heater - when it is hot out we tend not to take steamy showers anyway! Why pay to heat that water! (About 120 degrees is good!)
For more suggestions go to energystar.gov and look at the Home Improvement Page... Lots of tips available! I also have a great brochure available and am happy to share it - give me a call!
